Fiday 7th July - bike **** Short two river, Orwell to the Deben - sunny and
hot.
With temperatures set to soar today I was keen to get out early on the bike
this morning, Mag decided to have a rest today so I left home just before
seven. Heading down through Langer Park I was surprised to see a muntjac
deer which quickly disappeared into the bushes, then onto the dock view
point, being the only one there too, a large dredger was moored very close
to the first container ship in Felixstowe docks waiting to start work,
always worth a few pics:) Into the little wooden peir and I cycled along
the slope of the sea wall and nearly came to greif as my front wheel slide
away but I just saved myself! Then along the wooden walkway and across the
Nature reserve and back to the prom, now with several people about enjoying
the wall to wall sunshine with a pleasant breeze from the east. Leaving the
Fludyers behind I cycled across the grass and stopped for a nice chat with
a lady in her beach hut we have spoken to before before bumping into
another old friend out on her morning walk and stopped for another long
chat:) Down the windy footpath to the prom which leads to The Dip and onto
Felixstowe Ferry, a quick trip around the boat yard before whizzing home
with a tail wind the road way across the golf course. A top couple of hours
out in the sunshine before it gets too busy!
Walk ***
After the bike ride I have breakfast while sorting out my pics before
exercises in the back garden, dozing off at times while Mag does some dead
heading in the shade before I make lunch. We then walk down to Lidl and
onto the now very busy prom with loads of families on the beach with kids
everywhere, we later learn that the teachers might have been on strike???
We bump into someone from our childminding days and stop for a chat before
continuing to the Spa theatre, taking the pram walk up the cliff, back
through the town and home for a welcome cuppa ? top day but a bit too hot
for us! The afternoon breeze failed to arrive but there might be a couple
of breezy day from next Tuesday, fingers crossed.
